This tomatillo salsa is super fresh and flavorful. Perfect as a dip or a green sauce for tacos, nachos, enchiladas, or any dish that needs a little extra zing!

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 15 minutes

Total Time: 25 minutes

Servings: 8

How to Make Tomatillo Salsa

Here’s a quick rundown of what you’ll need and how to make it:

Ingredients:

– 1 pound tomatillos, husked

– ½ cup finely chopped onion

– 1 serrano chili, pepper, minced

– 1 teaspoon minced garlic

– 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro

– 1 tablespoon chopped fresh oregano

– 1 ½ teaspoons salt, or to taste

– ½ teaspoon ground cumin

– 2 cups water

Steps:

  1. Gather all ingredients.
  2. Cook the veggies: Place tomatillos, onion, chili, pepper, and garlic into a large saucepan. Season with cilantro, oregano, salt, and cumin. Pour in water and bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until the tomatillos are soft, about 10-15 minutes.
  3. Blend it up: Transfer the tomatillo mixture into a blender in batches and puree until smooth.

Serving Ideas

Wondering what to do with your tomatillo salsa? Try these:

– Serve with tortilla chips.

– Top your tacos, quesadillas, nachos, enchiladas, or fajitas.

– Dollop it onto grilled chicken, fish, or steak.

– Mix it into scrambled eggs.

Storage Tips

Tomatillo salsa is best fresh, but you can store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days.

Enjoy your tomatillo salsa verde!
